Hunger strike medal
• Inspired by original hunger strike medals
• Made using traditional techniques
• Produced by the company who originally made the medals
Suffragettes treated the fight for the vote as a military campaign, awarding medals, brooches and other items to honour women who suffered for the case.
The Museum of London have collaborated with Toye, Kenning & Spencer, who were originally commissioned by the Women's Social and Political Union to manufacture these items.
This medal has been hand made using original production methods and machinery from the early 1900s.
